Quote from Yoshikuni Sugiyama, Representative Director, President and Senior Executive Operating Officer:
I am honored to announce that Nippon TV captured the 2021 Annual Individual Viewer Ratings Triple Crown title.
I extend my deepest gratitude to the loyal viewers who supported our programs, as well as our sponsors and partners who made the production of our shows possible.
2021 was another year that was largely affected by the spread of COVID-19. As uncertainty and anxiety grew across Japan, we aspired to fulfill the mission that television has as one of the foundations of society by providing fast and accurate information, and offering wholesome entertainment.
As a media organization that delivers enriching moments, Nippon TV will continue to evolve in 2022. Leveraging our multitude of platforms such as our linear/satellite/pay-tv channels, Hulu in Japan, as well as other digital streaming services such as catch-up viewing service TVer, we will take on challenges that enable us to provide a diverse lineup of high-quality content to more people.
Comment from the Programming Division:
As the COVID-19 crisis continued in 2021, we endeavored to provide fast and accurate news and were able to share the athletes in action as well as the many touching moments during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Our efforts to always be the public's choice and win their support were ceaseless, with the official rollout of the “Good for the Planet Week” in our various programs as part of our SDGs initiatives, and the launch of “Nippon TV Network Live Streaming” on TVer in October 2021 that enables viewers to enjoy our content via digital and linear platforms simultaneously, among other undertakings. We are overjoyed that as a result, we were able to emerge as the Annual Individual Viewer Ratings Triple Crown champion for the eleventh consecutive year starting from 2011. Going forward, we will bolster our viewer-first mindset to unprecedented levels as we continue taking on new challenges to meet diversifying expectations.
