to stream globally on Netflix
TOKYO, JAPAN - October 19, 2025 - Nippon TV, Japan's leading multiplatform entertainment company, today announced that its recently launched, family dramedy series, Chosen Home, begins global streaming on Netflix on October 19th. New episodes will be released weekly.
Chosen Home is a unique heartwarming dramedy centered on two gay men and a troubled middle school girl who form an unexpected, unconventional family. The story centers on Genichi Hatano (50), a sentimental, kind-hearted gay man. Genichi falls in love with Saku Sakuta (38), a level-headed gay teacher who is cynical about romance. Unwilling to lose Saku, Genichi makes a sincere, yet slightly absurd proposal: they buy a house together, believing the shared home will make breaking up impossible.
Their plans are suddenly complicated by the appearance of Hotaru, a 15-year-old middle school student with a secret. Hotaru arrives with a huge sum of money and makes the astonishing offer that she wants to pay them to become her parents. Thus begins a peculiar shared life that explores the true meaning of love and family.
